History
Hotel Turist was established in 1964 and modeled on old "Grand Hotels" of Varaždin. The tradition of successful hotel trade, constant high-quality services, capacity of accommodation and conference halls and its location made this hotel the centre of north-western Croatia. This has been evidenced by constant inpour of satisfied guests, but also the awards Turist received as the best three-star hotel in continental Croatia: 1st prize in 2006, 2nd prize in 2007, 3rd prize in 2008 and 2nd prize in 2009. These awards serve not only as boasting points, but also bind us to continued maintenance and improvement of our services and additional hotel offers. At the end of 2008 we remodeled the entire hotel kitchen, restaurant, aperitif bar and two room floors. Rooms on these floors have thus received the 4-star classification, and now include the use of modern technologies.
Accommodation
As the perfect rest and relaxation destination, the hotel offers 46/1 rooms, 58/2 rooms and 5 apartments - 174 beds all told. Apartments and rooms all have their own bathrooms and are furnished for comfort. They each contain a TV/SAT, a telephone and a minibar. Superior rooms, upgraded to the 4**** level, are newly furnished and offer everything that a smart room should have. Room temperature control, digital drape control, full room blackout and the park view are just some of the extra benefits we offer to every guest in these rooms, in order for them to feel as good and rested as though they were in the comfort of their own homes.
Gastronomy
Hotel Turist is traditionally the main station for gourmet lovers, thanks to our award-winning team of chefs and cooks, led by the Chairman of the Croatian Chefs Society and head chef, Damir Crleni. Mr. Crleni is the first Croatian 'Golden Chef', who is constantly honing his craft through numerous European and global competitions, and serving them in the form of wonderful dishes to our guests and visitors. The standard of quality of our kitchen has been confirmed by the Haccp Codex Alimentarius ISO standard (since 2009), and the soon-to-be introduced Halal quality standard.
Sites and Sounds
Hotel Turist is situated at a serene location neighbouring a park, only a few minute walk from the city centre (the Korzo) and other city squares, restaurants and pubs, museums, unique city courtyards, museums, and all other sightseeing locations. The hotel is also in the vicinity of the main bus terminal and the main train station. It offers parking for up to 100 vehicles and 5 buses. Our summer terrace offers moments of respite, with the view of the park and hotel surroundings. The aperitif bar offers quaint surroundings for colder days, with a TV, newspapers, or just good conversation - and a special smokers section. Naturally, the hotel has wheelchair access.
We offer services of currency change, a la carte restaurant, internet corner, ATM, souvenir shop and pet accommodations.
The hotel is tuned to the seasons, giving you the perfect chance to experience the City of Varaždin and its surroundings from various perspectives. Whether you wish to simply relax, or spend some memorable free time or holidays in our hotel and our city, we are here to serve: choose between various excursions, team-building programmes, special events tailored to your needs and even culinary workshops (where you will learn how to make the traditional eats of the area: 'štrukle' and the Varaždin 'klipić') led by our Golden Chefs.
